Cancer and its consequences will be an increasingly prominent part of the primary care workload in the future. For the first time at any oncology congress, primary care involvement will be discussed in a number of Primary Care Sessions, reflecting its expanding role in cancer management and the need to more effectively integrate the primary and secondary settings to optimise patient care. With international experts the growing role of primary care in cancer – from prevention and diagnosis to survivorship and end of life care – will be discussed.
