The European Primary Care Cardiovascular Society 2015 Cardiovascular Disease Expert MasterClass.
Scientific programme endorsed by Council for Cardiovascular Primary Care (CCPC), European Society of Cardiology; Primary Care Diabetes Europe (PCDE); WONCA Europe.
DAY ONE
12.15 Registration and Exhibition
12.45 Welcome and introduction to EPCCS 2015
New format and new outputs: In response to audience feedback, this meeting will cover major issues in a debate format, interspersed with a few short update sponsored talks. The main debate sessions will present the most up to date evidence on a range of key cardiovascular topics and what this means for clinical primary care practice. However, recognising that the evidence base has areas of uncertainty and evidence gaps, we will use this meeting format to conclude what we evidence should be implemented, where uncertainties remain, and how we should deal with this. The outputs from EPCCS 2015 will be prepared for subsequent key points on the website, free-standing papers, and guidance documents, translated where possible.

13.30 Main CVD Risk Factors: Session 1 – Health behaviour changes

Chairs: Arno Hoes & Richard Hobbs
13.30 What’s the evidence base for health behaviour modification in the guideline updates?
Prof Paul Aveyard, University of Oxford

15.40 Main CVD Risk Factors: Session 2 – Elevated Lipids
Is there evidence beyond statins? Is HDL a target for intervention? Does it matter if we only use statins or do we need new therapies? Are statins as ineffective or intolerant and some say they are?
